First jigs for DAEC testing

In order to test the Sirocco NG-115 for the German DAEC, several jigs need to be made. Here's the first one!

Wing strut tested

We're happy to let you know that we successfully tested the wingstruts for the light carbon wing.
There are different scenarios which needed testing, compression and tensile load cases.
With the compression we stopped at 9.22 kN  / 922 kg so we could use the sample strut for the tensile test
At 20.7 kN /2070 kg  we stopped there the bolts started to bent..
all well above the required values.

New Carbon wings taking shape... we have found the final configuration for our future wings!
Light and Strong!!!

Bram made new forms for wing tip. These wingtip replace the aluminium tubing which were used in all Sirocco's

Many more changes... but w're finished now!

Light weight,

Always looking for a lighter, stronger and easier to make parts...  here Bas Overtoom (R) and Wim Benschop (L) are testing a new wing-rib.  After building 5 wings with all different wing ribs these are going to be used in future wings.  We test every part to Ultimate Load + 2 safety factors of 1.5.
The top picture shows the lead bags hanging to one rib; almost 100 kg.
One complete wing half weighs 12kg total and has to hold 1100 kg!

Hi Guys,

Nice to inform you that I have found a composite specialist helping me out. Bram builds special composite kitesurf boards.  The first task is to replace the current wing tip (nothing more than a tube) by a nicely shaped light weight composite tip. See his website at http://woodycookie.wordpress.com/

Modifications or changes

Hi guys,

Just a note about adding some extra engines to your Sirocco!
As you all well know, conducting extensive modifications or changes to any design without  consultation of the  “the manufacturer” may have allowed you to compromise the structural integrity of  the original aircraft design.  Please pay extra attention to these unauthorized modifications as a crash of a Sirocco (jet-powered or not...)  would not only hurt my little company's reputation but also have an effect on all other SSDR (UK) pilots which fly with aircraft as they are only to be designed and tested by their respective manufacturers.

Fly for Fun, Fly Safe!
